The Picture That Took Twelve Months To Take

At first glance this picture looks like DanDaLion wearing dark glasses, looking cool in his dentist Stephen's chair but it really doesn't convey the mane story.

We remember some time ago when we were struggling to make any progress with Dan's dental hygiene that our search for help lead us to a remarkable man's Queensland Government Dental office.

The first visit lasted no more than 15 minutes as a clearly anxious Dan maintained a vice like grip with his mouth that would have denied access to anything short of a cruise missile. Rather than represent frustration, Dan became Stephen's challenge and the initial fortnightly visits gradually became monthly, and then quarterly.

Just as a dentists fine, stainless steel tools of trade manipulate themselves into every cavity of your mouth, so too over time Stephen levered and prised away at Dan's fears. Over 12 months he gained his trust and through a combination of patience and devotion to the cause, he was able to make headway in Dan's dental hygiene. End result - happy snaps like this one.

Very often we look for our heroes on the front pages of our papers or on the sporting fields across the nation, when sometimes you simply have to look around you.
